Languages Centre

Language is the essential communication medium between people. The Muslim world includes a rich diversity of languages resulting from the native origins of those who profess Islam. And although English is the dominant medium of communication worldwide it is necessary to protect and nurture other languages particularly those that reflect the linguistic balance in the Muslim world.

Because the Arabic language is regarded as the fundamental entry tool for Islamic studies the Languages Centre has naturally commenced its programs in this field.  A comprehensive approach to the study of Arabic for both native and non-native speakers is an important step in this direction.  Moreover, the Centre will support QFIS's Research Centres' activities in the areas of publications and conferences by providing needed services including regular or simultaneous translation.

In due course, the Languages Centre will expand its activities to include other languages. In fact, the Centre has already commenced programming in the English Language to support QFIS students.
